Evaluation - Question 6 - Vinnay Patel

Liberty Poster

We have created a brief poster nothing too fancy but just to explain that if we made in effort to market our film it would look something similar to this. By creating products like this we increase the chance to get more sales within our demographic.

Video Piracy - Why is it important for a production film.

Some of the links I have used:
http://screenrant.com/movie-piracy-zombieland-video-on-demand-digital-download-solutions-kofi-35289/

I have used research from the internet to create this prezi and I wanted to explain how important it is when producing a film because of copyright issues etc. Effects money being made as well as it could have a huge impact on the audience.

Final Cut - Opening Scene

This is our final cut and as you can see we have demonstrated useful cinematic techniques. However even though there are some mistakes in the video we tried our best and we worked as a team. Furthermore, we will be doing our in depth evaluation of how we managed this. Hope you enjoy watching ' LIBERTY'.

Film Poster Examples

These are some of the examples I will be using in order to create a film poster for the opening scene we have created. These poster are aesthetically pleasing and goes with the genre and when I create mine I will rely on colours like so.

Behind the scenes - Opening Scene

We enjoyed the filming experience and we will like to give you a taste of what was it like filming in front of the cameras.

Cinematic Techniques - Sources to help in production Stage

I really want a cinematic look for the opening and so i am literally doing intense research upon how to do that.

Target Audience Research

Permission Letter for location - LIBERTY

Permission Letter

We created a permission letter as my peer lemuel started up the document and i just amended it. By having this by our side we are more likely to get accepted into getting a location for our scene we are trying to create.

Reece

This is done for getting the right location for our scene and branching out scenarios where there will be problems. To understand our scene in more depth we had to do a recce for location purposes.  We did some test shots as well looking around for possible locations that will suit best. In terms of finding the right location we put a lot of effort and had debates upon this because we all had different ideas. By finishing this task it helped so much because this gave us structure and a way to be organised.

Job Roles

In order to get the best possible outcome for the scene we had to really think about which person is unique for the role.

Vinnay: Director, Editor

Khalid: Written By, Assistant Production Coordinator, Producer

Lemuel: Production Designer, Assistant Producer

Test Shoot - Liberty

Since we wasn't sure how the scene was going to turn out or what it would be like in front of the camera and so we as a group decided to do a test shoot so it would make tasks much more easier to tackle. This helps us to make changes, location and even decide what kind of colour grading would be best for the scene.

Action Opening Scene (Skyfall)

Script - 1st Draft

This is our first draft and there will be a lot of changes to the script when it comes to the time of production.

Sources used to help me

My role for our film opening was to be the production designers so i was responsible for the location and the setting of the story. Also the costumes and props. I had been short of ideas and i needed to go into research of exactly what i can do to effectively fulfill the role of a production designer.

Directors - James Cameron

This is my brief research I did to find out more information about this particular director.

Foley Sounds - Videos to help

In order to use sound in the best way to get that realism in the opening sequence. We as a group have conducted research into helping us create foley sounds as thats a good feature to have when creating sounds such as footsteps, glass breaking or even a particular fight scenes.

Synopsis - Opening Scene

This would be our main idea of our narrative for our opening scene however it might have a few adjustments of improvements so it will give that professional look towards the audience but also following the narrative in the best way.

Initial Ideas - Story/Plot

Since its a action genre - it would relate to conventional themes such as weapons, fights etc.

Film Opening Analysis - American Sniper

I would like to show you a video analysis I have made for the film "American Sniper".

Thursday, 21 January 2016

Sources used to help me

To get more insight into our genre i wanted to find our exactly what we needed to make a good action film. Even though it wasn't as quite the same route that we were going as we do not have the budget and resources in order to create most of the effects of a large blockbuster i wanted to research the types of shots and mise en scene elements that i could incorporate into our film opening.

Iconography & Conventions

We would like to show you what does a action genre intake through its conventions. Here is a perfect example I have made:

Mood Board & Target Audience Profile

By doing a mood board it helps us generate ideas throughout the group also it creates key conventions used in a action film such as the terminator. These kind of images we think about and relate to as goes towards the action genre perspective. Conventions such as guns, kidnap, assassination, revenge etc. fall in the category because thats what audiences recognise as soon as its played on screen. Where as the genre comedy would connote to parties, teen bullying, cheerleaders and even alcohol. Furthermore these two groups of pictures make up our target audience and what will we target when going into production in creating our own opening scene.

Idents - 2 Examples

We felt as a group that this ident was not appropriate with films. As it more looks like its a youtube intro.

We chose this because its simple but elegant. But also it goes well with conventional films such as Dark Knight etc.

Opening Titles - Billing Order

When trying to do your opening everything needs to be precise and organised according to timing. So for that reason we chose to do a billing order so it would help us plan the scene properly and not make it longer than it should be. And from these 3 films we did a quick plan of the timeline of what is shown on the screen at what particular time. By doing so we follow the appropriate codes and conventions towards a film and so audiences wouldn't get confused of what is going on with the scene itself.
